The Company

Zilor started its activities in 1946, with the production of sugar and ethanol. The Company is currently a privately held Brazilian multinational in the Energy and Food industry and has a diversified business portfolio, including the generation of clean and renewable electric energy and the production of yeast and natural ingredients derived from sugarcane.

With 73 years of experience, Zilor’s DNA carries an ongoing search for innovation and productivity. The Company’s work stands out due to its pioneering position, prioritizing the search for sustainable growth. The modernization and diversification process started in 1994, the year in which Zilor dried the yeast for the first time.

In 2000, the Company adapted its units to generate clean and renewable electric energy, by cogenerating the sugarcane bagasse and fiber. In 2003, Biorigin Business Unit was created, focused on producing yeast-based natural ingredients for human consumption and animal nutrition.

In 2008, Zilor reinforced its participation in the segment of ingredients for animal nutrition and human food with the acquisition, through Biorigin, of the Norwegian company Immunocorp Animal Health and of the US company PTX Food, expanding and strengthening its international operations. Zilor has agricultural and industrial units, a research and development center and administrative and commercial offices, detailed below:

  • One agricultural unit – operating in the city of Quatá, in the countryside of the State of São Paulo, Brazil;
  • Three sugar, ethanol and energy industrial units – Barra Grande, São José and Quatá (installed in the cities of Lençóis Paulista, Macatuba and Quatá, respectively);
  • Four Biorigin industrial units – Barra Grande, São José and Quatá (installed in the cities of Lençóis Paulista, Macatuba and Quatá, respectively) and Louisville (Kentucky, USA);

Administrative and commercial offices in the countryside of São Paulo, in Lençóis Paulista, and in the state capital, in the city of São Paulo. Biorigin has commercial offices in Brazil, Argentina, USA, Belgium, France, United Kingdom, and Singapore.
